The fundamental mission of the MARHIS is to provide and share knowledge, technology and services to the development of the maritime, offshore and coastal engineering. This is possible because MARHIS allows the scientific community and the private sector, access the aggregated facilities, deepening in the understanding and modeling of the complexity of the physical processes involved and their interrelation with the natural environment and the socio-economic activities. It also enables to open new lines of research and technological development in Spain's undeveloped areas.
MARHIS is a distributed research infrastructure (ICTS) of the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness in Spain. MARHIS is supported by two of the leading spanish institution in this field LIM/UPC and IH-Cantabria hosting the two nodes conforming the distributed research infrastructure: iCIEM and CCOB respectivelly.
